Elf Studios was developed after having to build a web site in order to pass a university course in Tudor History. As a Political Science and British History major, I had never had any reason to do anything with a computer other than type research papers. It was the most frustrating four months I had had in my four years there. I never wanted to be put through that again. Were the fates against me when I volunteered for a local group and made the webmaster of the town’s web site? I again struggled with the task- but with a deadline looming over my head, I quickly started to understand and enjoy it. As an amateur artist, I found that esthetically pleasing web sites were just as exciting to create as a portrait. New technology comes rushing at us at a blinding pace, therefore, we are constantly making the effort to improve our skills. The name Elf Studios is the product of a one minute "free writing" exercise that was used in writing essays at University. My husband misread one of the names on the list as "Web Fairies" rather than "Web Faire." It lead to another train of thought, and the memory of a story I was told on a Girl Scout camping trip. It seemed to fit my philosophy, and a company name was born. (ReadThe Elves & the Shoemaker to understand) It is our philosophy that keeping other people’s best interest in mind when dealing with them will always make for a better outcome. We work hard to promote the Elf Studios web site, and believe in sharing any rewards that come of that effort. All clients are given a web link on the Elf Studios' web site. They receive additional exposure, and it’s a great way to keep actual samples of our work handy for potential customers. Small budgets don’t have to mean skimpy marketing!
